Intern Demi is choosing the LoveLive tunes again! Today it’s all about Designer Drugs…

Empty Hearted, featuring Alvin Risk, is the newest original song from American electro/house duo Designer Drugs.

I’ve literally had this song on replay since I first heard it - it seems like every tune that these guys bring us is bigger, badder and dirtier than the last, and that’s how it should be. the fact that this one song alone can hop from dub to happy hardcore and even house in the space of three minutes is a respectable feat in itself but to do all that,  feature one of the coolest guys in electro right now AND make it sound this good? Well, it is Designer Drugs we are talking about.

I think it’s safe to say that Designer Drugs are here for the long run.

Alix (@paveraver) recommends… Canalival Festival So finally summer is starting, the sun is gradually coming out and burning our freshly exposed skin, and best of all festivals are kicking off very soon!  However, if, like me, you have hand to forehead in despair because you haven’t yet planned your budget to buy tickets and all your friends seem to be going to at least 4 or 5 festivals already – despair no more! Introducing Canalival 2013! (@Canalival) This very young and cool festival aims to be up and running for its second year in a row on Saturday the 1st of June along Regents Canal in East London.  This festival is all about canals, so think water, boats, DJ’s, and lots of Pimms!  There will be floats and boats with live DJ’s and bands on board as well as dancers and performers.  And most importantly, the festival is FREE!! However – this eccentric festival is not yet fully funded and is in need of more money and quickly to go ahead with all of its plans. So (and get ready for the puns..) if the sound of this festival “floats your boat” then “jump aboard” and pledge as much or as little as you can to make this awesome day happen!  The organisers are asking for another £2000, which they need in the next 9 days in order for it to go ahead.  So rather than spending £120 on a festival ticket elsewhere, why not donate a simple £25 to a great cause, and help East London kick off the festival season with a BANG!  Or is that a Splash..?? Our brilliant intern Alix Paver (@paveraver on Twitter) has selected SBTRKT ‘Wildfire’ to add to our growing catalogue of top tracks and videos. Read on for her musical musings…

The first time I heard SBTRKT’s song ‘Wildfire’ ft Little Dragon I couldn’t help but sway along, shake my hips and even attempt a couple of belly rolls (not a sight to look out for…) This track successfully mixes a contemporary, simple dub bass line with an edgy pop melody to create a very cool and sexy song which makes you want to get up and dance R&B style.

The video brings a new take on the song, complimenting the mystery of the lyrics. The bedroom scene reminds us of The Exorcist, with the leading lady doing a very impressive job of looking pretty scary! But this song for me is all about the combination of a simple bass line, a simple melody and a sturdy beat to create a very complex mixture of feelings in the listener – it is a song which cannot easily be pigeonholed into a specific genre.

With SBTRKT’s debut album nearing two years since its original release date, we have a feeling that we might not have to wait too long for the next one … Let’s hope!

We’ve just been to the press screening of Rihanna 777, the official tour documentary, produced and directed by the team here at LoveLive. Released on DVD released May 7th (preorder here) we cannot tell you how good it is… The excitement, the drama, the epic-ness of the whole idea - seeing it all come to life on screen is absolute magic. We’re very proud and looking forward to everyone else seeing it!
